All students in the Province of Alberta must complete this one-credit course before entering Work Experience or the Registered Apprenticeship Program.
The program consists of students receiving one credit for every 25 hours of work. Some of the benefits include:
Receiving grade 12 credits, while still in grade 10.
Receiving credits and earning money at the same time.
It’s a great tool to use on post secondary applications.
Your employer’s evaluations act as an indicator of your job performance.
The program is designed to permit high school students to work on the first year of their chosen apprenticeship, while still meeting their graduation requirements. For each 125 hours worked, you can receive 5 credits from the school, plus use the hours towards your first year apprenticeship.
