Paul Kane Communication Tools

Welcome to Paul Kane High School. As the year unfolds, communication with families will be via email approximately every six weeks. Each edition will include what to look for and where to find it, at that time in the school year.

Principal’s Message

Welcome to the 2017/18 school year at Paul Kane. Our staff is here to ensure this year of education is both productive and valuable. We are serving 1040 students with well over 300 at each grade level.

Our clubs and sports teams are starting up, so be sure to watch announcements on how to get involved. Highlights at Paul Kane in the next month include Run for The Cure, Awards Night, PST (Parent /Student/Teacher) Conferences and several post- secondary information sessions.  Check our website regularly for upcoming events.

Please join us this evening at 5:00 for our Meet the Staff BBQ

Enjoy dinner and chat with our staff members.  At 7:00 the first School Council Meeting of the year will take place and you are welcome to attend.

Although you may park in the bus lanes for evening activities, please remember to avoid this when picking up your son or daughter as it creates safety issues.

If you have any questions please phone, email, or call.

Yours in Education

Duncan Knoll

Principal

PowerSchool - Parent and Student Portals

The Parent Portal will allow you and your child to view attendance, grades, communicate with teachers and pay fees.

Access ID and Passwords for families new to the district were mailed to parents and distributed to students earlier this month.  Please contact shirley.bowles@spschools.org if you have not received yours.  Once you have set up your account, you will be able to view attendance, marks and student fees.

All correspondence from Paul Kane is done via email.  It is important that you update your demographic information, including medical concerns, email addresses and cell numbers.  Please contact Shirley Bowles to update this information.

Student Fees have been applied to each student account and can now be paid through PowerSchool. Login to PowerSchool and click on "Student Fees" on the left hand bar to access your child's account.  Please note – you must use your Parent Access ID and Password for fees (not accessible with Student Access ID).

Families will notice a significant reduction in school fees this year.  As mandated by Alberta Education, the Learning Resources Fee ($110.00 per high school student) is no longer charged.  Paul Kane has also eliminated the $20.00 Parking Pass fee and the $25.00 Grad DVD.

Team fees and clothing for Cheer, Dance, Cross Country, Football, Golf, Swim and Volleyball teams are included where applicable and are now due.

Don’t forget to order a 2017-2018 Yearbook!  Just click on “New Items” to add it.

Online payment is recommended, however cash, cheque, credit or debit payments can be made in our office.  Please note that effective September 1, 2017 a 2.4% service fee is added to debit/credit payments whether online or in our office.

Additional field trip, athletics or other fees may be added as the year progresses.  Please check regularly to see if there are outstanding amounts to be paid.

If paying the entire amount at one time is not financially feasible for your family, you may choose to divide the fees into manageable payments. Please contact our Office Manager, Karen Tubman at 780-459-4405 ext. 330 or karen.tubman@spschools.org to discuss payment arrangements.

Thank you!
